The Hero Glamour is a 125 cc commuter with a straightforward maintenance routine, but the schedule changed with the newer OBD-2B models. This guide sets out what Hero MotoCorp’s own owner’s manuals say: when each service is due, what gets done, which oil to use, and what the warranty requires.
The short answer
- Newer Glamour (April 2025 manual, OBD-2B): four free services, then a paid service every 6,000 km or 180 days, whichever comes first. The engine oil is changed at every service.
- Older Glamour (the schedule on Hero’s service page): five free services, then a paid service every 3,000 km or 90 days. The oil is changed every 6,000 km and topped up every 3,000 km.
- Oil grade: SAE 10W-30 SL or SAE 5W-30 SN, both JASO MA2. About 1 litre at an oil change.
- Drive chain: inspected, cleaned, lubricated and adjusted every 2,000 km on both schedules.
Which schedule applies depends on your bike. The owner’s manual in your bike’s document wallet is the one to follow; if it says “180 days or 6000 km”, you have the newer schedule.
The service schedule: newer Glamour (2025 manual)
From the Glamour owner’s manual, April 2025 edition (pages 37–39). Each service is due at the kilometre reading or the day limit, whichever comes first:
- 1st free service: 500–750 km, or 60 days from purchase.
- 2nd free service: 6,000–6,500 km, or 180 days after the 1st.
- 3rd free service: 12,000–12,500 km, or the next 180 days.
- 4th free service: 18,000–18,500 km, or the next 180 days.
- Paid services after that: once every 6,000 km, and within 180 days of the previous service, whichever is earlier.
The service schedule: older Glamour
The Glamour maintenance schedule published on Hero’s service page follows the older pattern:
- 1st free service: 500–750 km, or 60 days from purchase.
- 2nd to 5th free services: at 3,000–3,500, 6,000–6,500, 9,000–9,500 and 12,000–12,500 km, each within 100 days of the previous one.
- Paid services after that: within 90 days or 3,000 km of the previous service, whichever is earlier.
What gets done at the services
These items are from the 2025 chart (pages 38–39):
- Engine oil: replaced at every service. The oil strainer screen is cleaned at the 1st and 3rd free services and every 12,000 km, and the paper oil filter is replaced at 12,000 km and every 12,000 km after that.
- Spark plug: inspected, cleaned and gapped, and replaced at 12,000 km and every 12,000 km after that. The gap is 0.8–0.9 mm (page 40).
- Air filter: replaced every 18,000 km, sooner in dusty conditions (page 37). Hero’s chart says not to open the air cleaner element before then unless there is a drivability problem. The older schedule replaces it every 15,000 km.
- Valve clearance: checked and adjusted at every service.
- Drive chain: inspected, cleaned, lubricated and adjusted every 2,000 km, which is more often than the service interval. Slack should be about 30 mm (page 47).
- Brakes: brake pad wear and brake fluid level are checked at every service on disc-brake bikes, and the brake fluid is replaced every 2 years or 30,000 km (page 37). Brake shoes are inspected and adjusted at every service.
- Clutch: lever free play checked at every service. It should be 10–20 mm at the lever (page 46).
- Front fork oil: replaced every 2 years or 30,000 km, whichever is earlier (page 37).
- Emissions: CO at idle is checked from the 2nd service onwards.
Engine oil
Hero specifies Hero 4T Plus in SAE 10W-30 SL grade or SAE 5W-30 SN grade, both JASO MA2 (pages 14 and 41). The engine takes about 1.0 litre at a normal drain and refill, and 1.2 litres when rebuilt (page 7).
The level is read in the oil window on the right crankcase cover and must stay between the MAX and MIN marks (page 41). Using an oil outside the specified grades is one of the listed reasons the warranty will not apply. For how this compares with other bikes, see which engine oil does your bike need?
Tyre pressures
Checked cold (page 59):
- Front: 25 psi (1.75 kgf/cm²), rider only or with a pillion.
- Rear: 29 psi (2.00 kgf/cm²) rider only, and 33 psi (2.30 kgf/cm²) with a pillion.
Under-inflation costs mileage; see why your bike’s mileage is dropping.
Warranty conditions
The 2025 manual warrants the Glamour for 5 years or 70,000 km, whichever is earlier. It advises owners to take all free and paid services at an authorised Hero MotoCorp workshop to stay eligible, and its list of limitations says the warranty does not apply if the free services, paid services and oil top-ups are not done on schedule at a Hero MotoCorp workshop.
Warranty terms can change between model years, so check the booklet that came with your bike. While your Glamour is under warranty, keep its services with Hero. More in does doorstep bike service void your warranty?
After the warranty: doorstep service
The Glamour has a 124.7 cc engine (page 7), so it falls into our general service up to 125 cc, listed at ₹1,225 + 18% GST on the package page, which shows the full checklist and what is excluded. It includes engine oil replacement and chain cleaning and lubrication. Every service carries a 7-day warranty on our workmanship, and no part is replaced without your approval. Between services, see how to clean, lube and check the chain.
