Honda keeps the Activa’s maintenance simple: one early service, then a service every 6,000 km or 6 months, with fresh engine oil each time. This guide sets out what Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India’s own documents for the 110 cc Activa say: when each service is due, what gets done, which oil it takes, what the warranty requires, and what a service costs with us.
The short answer
- First service: at 1,000 km or 1 month.
- Then every 6,000 km or 6 months: 6,000 km (6 months), 12,000 km (12 months), 18,000 km (18 months), and so on.
- Engine oil is replaced at every one of those services: 0.55 litres, or 0.60 litres when the oil strainer screen is cleaned.
- Bigger jobs: spark plug every 12,000 km, air filter every 18,000 km, drive belt replaced at 24,000 km, final drive (gear) oil every 2 years.
Honda’s maintenance schedule for the September 2023 Activa and the one for the August 2025 OBD2B Activa (listed under the Anniversary Edition) use the same intervals, so this applies to Activa scooters from at least 2023 onwards. The Activa 125 has its own manual.
The service schedule
Honda lists each service against both an odometer reading and a number of months (owner’s manual, printed pages 79–80):
- 1st service: 1,000 km, or 1 month.
- 2nd service: 6,000 km, or 6 months.
- Then: 12,000, 18,000, 24,000, 30,000 and 36,000 km, at 12, 18, 24, 30 and 36 months.
- Beyond 36,000 km: Honda says to repeat at the same intervals.
The manual also lists an annual check, and it does not say how many of these services are free. Any free-service coupons come with your dealer’s service booklet, so check that. The manual itself says that “all scheduled maintenance is considered a normal owner operating cost” and asks owners to keep every receipt (page 78).
What gets done, and when
At every service
- Engine oil replaced (at 1,000 km and at every 6,000 km service after it).
- Engine idle speed and the brake system inspected.
- From the 6,000 km service on: fuel line, throttle operation, crankcase breather (cleaned), valve clearance, battery, brake shoe wear, brake lock, headlight aim, suspension and wheels/tyres are inspected each time.
On longer intervals
- Oil strainer screen: cleaned every 12,000 km.
- Spark plug: inspected at 6,000, 18,000 and 30,000 km, and replaced every 12,000 km. Honda specifies an NGK MR8E-9 or Bosch UR5DE0, gapped at 0.8–0.9 mm (page 137).
- Air filter: replaced every 18,000 km, and more often if you ride in unusually wet or dusty conditions.
- Drive belt: inspected at 12,000 km and 36,000 km, replaced at 24,000 km.
- Clutch shoes and steering head bearings: inspected every 12,000 km.
- Final drive oil: replaced every 2 years (0.09 litres after draining).
- Honda diagnostic system: checked at 6,000, 18,000 and 30,000 km.
Honda marks the valve clearance, drive belt, air cleaner and several other items as jobs that need proper tools and service data, and the diagnostic system, clutch shoes, wheels and steering bearings as dealer-only for safety.
Engine oil
The quantities are clear: 0.55 litres for an oil change, 0.60 litres when the strainer screen is also cleaned, and 0.75 litres after an engine rebuild (pages 102 and 137). The grade needs a closer look, because the August 2025 manual gives two figures:
- The Specifications page recommends Honda 4-stroke motorcycle oil, SAE 5W-30, JASO T 903 MB, API SJ or higher (page 137).
- The Engine Oil page says that if you use another oil, it must meet JASO MB, SAE 10W-30 and API SJ or higher (page 85).
On both pages the oil has to be JASO MB, the scooter grade, not the MA grade sold for geared motorcycles, and Honda rules out oils marked “Energy Conserving” or “Resource Conserving”. If you are unsure which viscosity applies to your scooter, follow the manual that came with it. For how this compares with other bikes, see which engine oil does your bike need?
Tyre pressures
Checked cold (page 137):
- Front: 22 psi (1.50 kgf/cm²).
- Rear: 29 psi (2.00 kgf/cm²) solo, and 36 psi (2.50 kgf/cm²) with a passenger.
Low pressure is one of the commonest reasons for falling mileage; see why your bike’s mileage is dropping.
Warranty conditions
Honda warrants the Activa for 36 months or 36,000 km, whichever comes first, with repairs done at its authorised workshops (page 139). Tyres and the battery are covered by their own makers. Honda is explicit about servicing: the warranty does not apply to “any vehicle on which any free and paid services has not been carried out, as per schedule given in Owner’s Manual” (page 140), or to a vehicle “that has not been serviced by HMSI authorised dealer as per the service schedule” (page 141). Wear items such as the drive belt, clutch weights, brake shoes, air cleaner element and engine oil are not covered.
So while your Activa is under warranty, keep every scheduled service with a Honda dealer and keep the receipts. More in does doorstep bike service void your warranty?
After the warranty: doorstep service and cost
The Activa’s engine is 109.51 cc (page 136), so it falls into our general service up to 110 cc, listed at ₹999 + 18% GST on the package page, which shows the full checklist and what is excluded. It includes engine oil replacement. Parts that Honda’s schedule calls for at longer intervals, such as a spark plug, air filter or drive belt, are extra, and no part is replaced without your approval. Every service carries a 7-day warranty on our workmanship. You can also book from the Honda Activa 6G page.
