Doorstep bike service sounds like an obvious win: a mechanic comes to you, and you do not lose half a day at a workshop. It often is. But it is not the right choice for every bike or every job, and we would rather you know where the limits are before you book. That includes booking with us.
For context: BikeFixUp is an independent doorstep service, not an authorised centre for any manufacturer. That matters for one of the points below.
The short answer
- Worth it for routine servicing, inspections, battery and electrical problems, and jobs where your time costs more than the workshop trip.
- Not the right choice for tyre, puncture or wheel-alignment work, which needs a specialist outlet.
- Check first if your bike is under warranty. Most major brands require scheduled services at their authorised workshops.
What you actually gain
Your time
A workshop service usually means riding there, waiting or leaving the bike, and going back to collect it. A doorstep service happens at your home or office while you get on with your day.
You can see the work being done
At a busy workshop, your bike disappears into a queue. At your doorstep, you can watch what is checked and what is replaced, and ask questions as it happens. That is the simplest protection against paying for work that was not done.
Help when the bike will not move
If the bike will not start, getting it to a workshop is the hard part. A doorstep visit removes that problem. Our guide to why a bike will not start covers what to check yourself first.
Upfront scope and pricing
A good doorstep service tells you what the package includes, and what it does not, before anyone arrives. Ours start from ₹999 for petrol bikes, depending on engine capacity and package, and electric scooter inspections start from ₹599. The services page shows the full checklist for each package.
The honest limits
Warranty
This is the big one. Hero, Bajaj, TVS and Royal Enfield all make servicing at their authorised workshops a condition of their warranty, according to their own published terms. While your bike is under warranty, keep the scheduled services in the brand’s network. We explain what each brand says in does doorstep bike service void your warranty?
Jobs that need specialist equipment
Some work needs equipment that does not travel. We do not do puncture repair, tyre replacement, tube replacement or wheel alignment, and those are best done at a specialist tyre outlet anyway. Chain slip and broken-chain repairs are also not offered. Chain cleaning and lubrication is part of every service.
You need a suitable spot
The mechanic needs somewhere safe and reasonably flat to work: a parking space, a society basement or an office lot. A narrow roadside with traffic is not ideal for anyone.
Quality depends on the provider
“Doorstep” is a delivery method, not a quality standard. The same questions apply as with any workshop: is there a written checklist, are parts approved before they are replaced, and does the provider stand behind the work?
Doorstep, authorised centre or local mechanic?
- Under warranty: the authorised service centre, for scheduled services.
- Out of warranty, and your time matters: doorstep service is a strong option.
- A trusted local mechanic nearby: also a good option, if they give you an itemised bill.
- Tyre or wheel work: a specialist tyre outlet.
We go through the trade-offs in more detail in authorised service centre vs local mechanic.
How to judge any doorstep service
- Is the price published before booking? You should know the package price and what it includes up front.
- Is there a written checklist? Compare it against our general service checklist.
- Are parts approved first? Nothing beyond the quoted scope should be replaced without your say.
- Do you get the old parts back? Ask. It costs the mechanic nothing.
- Is there a workmanship guarantee? Ask how long it lasts and what it covers.
- Do they say clearly what they do not do? A provider that claims to do everything at your doorstep is overselling.
What we commit to
Our doorstep service starts from ₹999 depending on your bike’s engine capacity and the package, with general service packages priced by engine size from up to 110 cc to up to 300 cc. Every service carries a 7-day warranty on our workmanship, and no spare part is replaced without your approval. Repair work is quoted before it starts. For electric scooters, see EV service at home. And whoever you book with, our guide to bike service intervals will tell you when the next one is due.
